Retirement income estimator

Understand your retirement income options

Answer a few simple questions to see what your pension and State Pension could give you each month. This is a helpful starting point, not personal financial advice.

Your Personal Retirement Estimate will show:
  • Estimated private pension income
  • Estimated State Pension income
  • Possible monthly retirement income
  • Inflation-adjusted target income
  • Questions to discuss with an adviser
Important: This estimate is for illustrative and educational purposes only. It is not financial advice, should not be relied on for decision-making, and should be discussed with a qualified financial adviser before you make any retirement, pension or investment decisions.
Question 1 of 7

Before we begin, what should we call you?

We use your first name to make the estimate feel more personal when your report appears. This does not change the calculation and does not make the report personal financial advice.

Your first name is used only to personalise the estimate on this page. It is not sent to us unless you choose to send an enquiry at the end.
Important: Your report will be based only on the information you enter. It is an estimate for guidance and education only. It is not financial advice and should not be relied on when making pension, investment or retirement decisions.
Question 2 of 7

Now, tell us about your retirement timing

This helps us estimate how long your pension has to grow before you may start using it.

Question 3 of 7

What has brought you here today?

Choose the option that feels closest to your situation.

Question 4 of 7

What sort of retirement income would feel comfortable?

This is just a target. Inflation is included to show how today’s target could change by retirement age.

Use today’s money. A rough estimate is fine.
This shows how your target income could change by retirement age. It is only an illustration.
Question 5 of 7

Tell us a bit about your pensions

This gives you an estimate of what your private pension could provide each month.

This is not a prediction. It is only an illustration.
This is not a recommendation.
For example, defined benefit pension, rental income or part-time work.
Question 6 of 7

Let’s include the State Pension and your wider picture

State Pension is shown separately, because it usually starts later than private pension access.

This is editable. Your actual entitlement depends on your National Insurance record.
Helpful note: Your State Pension depends on your National Insurance record. This tool does not check your entitlement. It simply lets you include an estimate.
Question 7 of 7

One last thing — should we consider your home?

Your home may be part of the wider retirement planning conversation. We will not treat it as automatic income.

Examples of how we can help

These fictional examples show some of the common questions people have when thinking about pensions, retirement income and wider financial planning.

    Peter, 58

“I have several pension pots and don’t know what they’re worth.”

Peter has worked for a few different employers over the years and has built up several pension pots. Some are easy to find, others are less clear, and he is not sure whether they are invested in the right way for retirement.

A review could help him understand what he has, how the pensions are invested, what charges may apply, and whether bringing things together could make his retirement planning easier to manage.

    Sarah, 62
    £

“I’m close to retirement and want to know if I can afford to stop working.”

Sarah would like to retire in the next few years, but she is unsure how much income her pensions could provide and whether it would be enough to support the lifestyle she wants.

A retirement planning conversation could help her look at her pension income, State Pension, savings, spending needs and timing, so she can make decisions with more confidence.

    David, 55

“I want to understand my pension, State Pension and other savings together.”

David has a pension, some savings, and expects to receive State Pension later, but he has never looked at everything together in one plan.

A wider review could help him see the bigger picture: what income may be available, when different sources might start, what gaps may exist, and what options he may want to consider before retirement.

Important: These are fictional examples only and are designed to illustrate common planning questions. They are not real client case studies, financial advice or a guarantee of what may be possible. Your own circumstances will need to be reviewed before any advice can be given.

    Questions about your retirement estimate

Is this retirement estimate financial advice?

No. The retirement income estimator is for educational and illustrative purposes only. It is designed to give you a helpful starting point, not a personal recommendation. You should not rely on the figures to make pension, investment or retirement decisions without speaking to a qualified financial adviser.

How accurate is the retirement calculator?

The figures are only an estimate based on the information you enter, such as your age, pension value, contributions, growth assumption, withdrawal rate and inflation assumption. Real outcomes can be different because pension values, investment returns, inflation, tax rules and personal circumstances can all change.

Does the estimate include State Pension?

Yes, the estimator allows you to include an estimated State Pension figure. Your actual State Pension depends on your National Insurance record, so this should be checked separately. The calculator does not confirm your entitlement.

What happens after I send my WhatsApp request?

Your WhatsApp message will include the details you entered, so Steve or one of the team can understand what you would like help with. We’ll aim to call you back within one working day during our office hours: Monday to Friday, 9:15am–5:00pm. If the timing is not convenient, we can arrange a better time with you.

What if I have several pension pots?

That is very common. Many people have pensions from different employers and are not sure what they are worth, how they are invested, or whether the charges are still suitable. A pension review can help you understand what you have and whether any action may be worth considering.

What will it cost to speak to you?

The initial call is free and there is no obligation. If you decide to go further, any advice fees will be explained clearly before you agree to anything. You will not receive a surprise bill for having an initial conversation.
